The PCB Marketing Director Ahsan Malik resigns from his post. Cricket360.com on why the resignation is yet another blow to this ill-fated board. PCB on Monday got the latest blow; the PCB marketing director Ahsan Malik has decided to call it a day and bid good bye to the Pakistan Cricket Board. As the media flashed the breaking news internationally, the concerned people admitted that it was indeed a serious loss for the Pakistan board which is already rife with endless unresolved issues. The resignation has evoked quite a furor on the home front. The heat could be sensed from the online cricket forums , that a large part of them hold that Ahsan had to go because there is no place for professionals in the Board and that the man had a knack of picking up the right talent. Apart from that, Ahsan Malik had contributed greatly to improve the image of PCB in the international cricket circles. Initially he was in the charge of media and communications, but gradually took over the marketing department of the apex cricket body of his country. A close ally of former chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf, he served the board dedicatedly for two and half years. Sealing the $140 million TEN Sports Television Rights deal, which supplied fresh oxygen to the cash starved cricket body, is considered to be his greatest contribution to the board. His other achievement included staging the events such as like Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Twenty20, grabbing the sponsorship deals of Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka ODI series and promoting the event like Mobilink Hunt for Heroes. However, it was not clear what made Dr Malik, who was so popular among the media persons for his professionalism, take this move. However, the person himself has chosen to maintain a dignified silence over the matter and just informed the media that it was another career move on his part. Cricket360 just waits to watch what next steps are taken by Butt and co. to uphold the marketability of Pak cricket board in the eyes of international cricket community.
