While most famous brothers ever to walk on to a cricketing field have dominated cricket in Australia, i.e. Chappell brothers, now a new team of brothers has emerged in Australia in the form of Michael Hussey and David Hussey, who facilitated Australia to score a scintillating win over times, India, have also not been far behind and here the Pathan brother, Irfan and New Zealand, opines Cricket360. Across the Pacific, and the real rival of Australia in the recent Yusuf have scored a scintillating victory in the one-off 20-20 match , held in Sri Lanka.
For India it has happened for the first time in cricket. Brothers playing together, and walking on to the wicket when the team needed them the most facilitated the team to score a scintillating victory and in the bargain have furthered the cause for their inclusion in the team on a regular basis. Sri Lankan would not have dreamt that the iron like grip that he had on the Indian team after seven wickets were pocketed, would slip away before his eyes, by a performance in tandem by the Pathan brothers and he would be left twiddling his thumbs. Fortunes of the Pathan brothers have been interesting when their association with the Indian team is concerned. Irfan, the younger of the two has been a fixture with the Indian team for quite a long time, also going out on account of injuries or dropped for his performance, while Yusuf came into the Indian team after his sparkling performance in the IPL, where Yusuf represented the Rajasthan Royals. As a matter of fact, it was his performance in the finals of the Indian Premier league both with the bat and with the ball is what earned him the laurels to play with the Indian team, and he has not let any opportunity go by. While Irfan did not find a place in the one-day team for the current Sri Lanka tour, he got an opportunity to display his prowess in the one-off 20-20 match. The match for Irfan began on an ominous note, as he dropped a perfect sitter in the beginning of the match itself, when Sri Lanka had put on only 2 runs on the scoreboard. So, Irfan had to redeem his reputation and what a way he did. He was fortunate enough to have the company and guidance of his elder brother Yusuf on the pitch. Many of us may not be aware that Yusuf Pathan has been the guiding force behind the performance of Irfan; he was sort of a mentor. And Yusuf did mentoring in such a splendid manner that the match was won by India with consummate ease.
