When the process of churning is going on, and it is the reputation of the country which is at stake then the organizers can go to anything to protect the same. This seems to be the maxi which is guiding cricket Australia in selecting the team to do the honors for the country. The fate of Brett Lee is a clear pointer to the fact.

Brett Lee is still not been able to recover from the injuries that he ahs been plagued with. He continues to sit out on one count or the other owing to the nagging injuries that he is suffering. He is also epitomizing the dilemma that a fast bowler faces in his career whether to cut down on the speed for length or continue with it. He is one bowler who still relies on speed for his performance and it had been paying him dividends, but the dividends have not been in the same quantum off-late.

With the reputation of cricket Australia in tatters on account of the abysmal performance of the cricket team, the selectors are giving it a serious thought to select a team for the Ashes which give a good fight in the tournament and continue to maintain the dominance. It can only be done if the players are not selected on the basis of their reputation but on the basis of performance.

Brett Lee is one bowler from whom consistent performance is expected, and he is not been in a position to provide it, owing to the fact that he is making recoveries after injuries, and possibly in his zealousness to generate speed he tends to harm himself once again and then has to be forced with a lay off.

So Cricket Australia ha decided to take its own time in bringing Lee back into the team. Right now he is suffering from an ankle injury and he has been ruled out of the tour to South Africa by Cricket Australia. He also would not be able to fancy his chances to play against Pakistan in the one day series being conducted in Dubai so he would only have his performance in the T-20 to provide the opportunity to be selected for the Australian team. Could we then see a different Lee in IPL this time around? Yuvraj Singh and Preity Zinta would be salivating at this news.
