For Pakistan's star batsman Mohammad Yusuf, who has been placed under suspension by the Pakistan Cricket Board for being associated with the Indian Cricket League (ICL), said Saturday he cannot renegade from the contract that he entered into with ICL.

Main Text: It really is an existentialist dilemma for Mohammed Yusuf. On the one hand, he has banned by his board, the Pakistan Cricket Board for being associated with Indian Cricket League, he cannot leave being a player from the tournament as has signed a three-year contract with the organizers of the Twenty20 event. It is altogether a different thing, that Indian Cricket League has not been accorded legal sanction by the BCCI, and possibly this may be the reason why PCB may be putting pressure on him by suspending him, to renegade his contract with the ICL, so that PCB can score some positive points with BCCI and have the hope that the Indian team would tour Pakistan.

For Yusuf, his commitment as a professional cricketer would come into question if he leaves, as he has three years contract. Besides, he counter poses that ICL never objects when he leaves there matches to pay for Pakistan, and then PCB also should not have an objection.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has imposed a ban on players appearing in the Indian Cricket League — a Twenty20 league which is a direct competitor to the officially recognized Indian Premier League — barring them from both domestic and international cricket.

Yusuf is an exception however, and is one of the 11 Pakistani Indian Cricket League players who were allowed to compete in domestic first-class cricket after a court in Karachi repealed the domestic ban. He harps on the fact that he is a professional cricketer, and as such if he gets offers to play abroad, how can he refuse them, after all the life of an average cricketer is very less, and if he gets an opportunity to make money based on his expertise, there is no harm in making hay while the sun shines.  He has the hope that may be ICC could interfere in the matte.

But his hopes may be too far-fetched, as the ICC has refused to interfere in the affairs pertaining to IPL and has authorized BCCI to take its own decisions on the matter, which means that Yusuf has to fight his battle on his own.
