There is an ongoing Battle Royal between Pak cricketer Mohammed Yousuf and the Pakistan Cricket Board, with the former leveling accusations at the PCB, and the PCB saying that Yousuf is not in possession of the correct facts and that he is trying to malign the PCB.
What is causing the furore and has drawn denial from Yousuf if the fact that former Director PCB HR Nadeem Akram said that the PCB extended a Rs. 10 million (one crore) offer to him on condition that he withdraw his IPL contract and that Yousuf allegedly failed to honour his part of the deal to quit playing for IPL. Yousuf is refuting claims made that he accepted Rs 1 crore from the PCB not to play in the Indian Cricket League. The PCB said that Yousuf is at fault by unilaterally breaking his PCB contract by joining Indian Premier League (IPL) without informing PCB. Upon being asked why he played the ICL in spite of being told not to do so, he said, “I was stopped to play in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) but later they expelled from the national team. I had no option except to play for ICL after my expulsion from the national team,” he said. In his defence Yousuf has said "First of all I was not centrally contracted when I entered into a contract with ICL in late 2007. Secondly, money given to me was paid to all 'A' category players by the board so I wasn't given any special amount". He is highly upset at having not been picked for the Pak side and has now appealed to the Pakistani president and chief patron of Pak cricket, Asif Ali Zardari that injustices were done to him by the PCB. According to the cricket news, Yousuf wrote to Zardari and said that "I still want to play for Pakistan because this country has given me everything. Most importantly it has given me Islam. But the people who run cricket affairs they don't want me to play for the country." Mohammad Yousuf has said that the PCB was under pressure from the Indian board and towing its line on the Indian Cricket League issue to which the PCB has reacted with anger saying “Yousuf's allegation against the board is incorrect and an attempt to malign the institution". If seem little is anything is going right for Pak cricket at this time; one hopes that they see better times soon.
