What better person to campaign for Indian Army whose life and career is what could aspire and emulate others and join the army. His is a story of courage in defiance. And one more feather was added in his persona when he started the training to become a member of the Indian Territorial Army. He has been drafted as a honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army.

 

At a time when the army is short of role models to encourage the young generation to take a career in the Indian army, there could not have been a better brand ambassador than Kapil Dev. On the eve of his training program he cajoled upon the young generation to give their life to the country for a small time. He was of the view that the leadership qualities that the Indian army could provide would not be provided by any corporate placement as well.

Moving away from the controversy surrounding the future of the ICL, by beginning the training in the Indian Territorial Army, Kapil Dev gave a strong statement to the nation. But it was lost in the milieu of the coverage being provided to the Indian team that is on tour to New Zealand right now.

The million dollar question is, whether after Kapil Dev gets exposure in army style of leadership, would he be agreeable to adorn an active political role? After all, he ahs credentials which would be envy of any political leader.

 

At the age of 58, which in fact is the right age to enter into politics, it is high time Kapil Dev start giving a thought to this aspect as well, As the country needs his leadership qualities. When his peers and contemporaries are making a name for themselves in the politics, why not him? He already has made a name for himself by being associated with social causes as well, and has fond memories with the public, so there should not be a problem in his winning an election. Paaji, are you agreeable?
