The talent scouts of Rajasthan Royals continue to surprise by the players that they keep on picking. In the same leak now they have included a player from Madhya Pradesh, Naman Ojha the wicketkeeper, who keeps the stumps for the MP team. He is the second wicketkeeper batsman who has been signed by Rajasthan Royals.
As the second season of Indian Premier League gravitates to its opening, more and more new establishments are getting representation as team members, thereby expanding the horizon of the tournament and widening its outreach. Rajasthan Royals have picked up Naman Ojha, the Madhya Pradesh wicketkeeper and have given him a contract of one-year to play for the team. Ojha has become the first player from Madhya Pradesh to join the Twenty20 event whose second season begins in April. He is supposed to join the team of Rajasthan Royals in last week of March or first week of April. He informed that Rajasthan Royals approached him for the first time in August 2008, and since then, talks have been going on between him and his new team which culminated in signing of the contract. He is an accomplished top-order batsman, who made his first-class debut in 2000-01 and has since scored 3164 runs at 32.95. He has been successful in the limited-over format and his recent performance which might have swayed the deal was in the Challenger Trophy, where he had scored 96 for India Green. Rajasthan Royals the defending champions are investing in talented youngsters suited to the Twenty20 game. It all started when they picked up Goa's Swapnil Asnodkar in the first IPL season and made him a success story, now they have also signed up Kerala's Raiphi Gomez. In a related development, to build up a solid fan base, Rajasthan Royals have launched a mobile community for fans. This has been done by entering into a tie-up with SMS Gupshup to launch a mobile community for its fans. Gupshup would be SMS, WAP and WEB community platform partner Rajasthan Royals to interact and grow its fan base, both in India and abroad. It has also come up with a multitude of interesting contests across the country with a special thrust in Rajasthan and Gujarat to engage its fans, as it wants to spread its fan following in these two states. By tapping on the mobile community, fans can participate on a real-time basis in quiz contests and games and win interesting prizes. The team has already started a variety of interesting contests such as Royals Diva, Kaptano Ke Kaptan, Boundary Ka Baadshah, Toss ka Boss and Googly-Shoogly.
