Shane Warne is indeed going from strength to strength or one can say that he having a second life, which seems to be more fanciful and glamorous than the life that he led as the mainstream leggie for Australia. His new birth in the second life also has an Indian connection. Had it not been his association with the Rajasthan Royals, he would have gone into oblivion. But the captainship mantle on his shoulders given by Rajasthan Royals literally transformed him. He also has become a player, who would be the first player in cricket probably on whom a Broadway has been designed in Melbourne and the success that Broadway has achieved has even started raising demands of making this maverick the Prime Minister of Australia as well. When life smiles it smiles like this only.
When Shane Warne had hung his boots; he was not even playing regular cricket. Suddenly, IPL happened and it has changed his life forever. Now he has added another feather in his life, as in a coup of sorts he has been signed as a commentator by the Sky TV to cover the Ashes series. He would be co-commentator along with Mike Atherton and Naseer Hussain. It is a creditable choice and he would indeed make the commentating lively. He had already made a successful debut as a commentator with Channel Nine on the match between Australia and South Africa series this winter and therefore they announced that they wanted to keep him on full time. Warne has not accepted the author and the reason he has given is that that he has better things to do with this time; which indeed he does in captaining Rajasthan in the Indian Premier League and playing in big-money poker tournaments. Warne will be worth his place, and the prospect of hearing his stints alongside Mike Atherton and Hussain is worth relishing. With Warne joining, Sky has assembled a fine commentary team, with David Lloyd, Nasser Hussain, Mike Atherton, Michael Holding and lately Tony Cozier all outstanding for one reason or another.
