After hogging the limelight in all the forms of media, be it electronic, web, print or audio, the curtains have finally come down on the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), and the results have not gone along the expected lines, as Lalit Modi has not able to win the elections. He has been defeated by Sandeep Dixit the bureaucrat, and he defeated Modi by 5 votes. But the margin of defeat is such that it may again lead to the questions whether the elections were conducted in an impartial manner and whether the counting of votes was impartial or not. Had the margin of difference been in the double figures, even the basest double figure, i.e. 10, then the tongues may not have been allowed to wag. But the margin of difference indeed leaves the scope for the tongues to wag.
All the same, even the Supreme Court would be happy that inspite of it standing on the side of Modi and fighting his battle, the decision that has come would add to the credibility of the court as the opposite candidate has won. Now the court should step in and give the orders that no further probe would be made in the matter and the matter may be treated as closed for all times to come.
The victory for Dixit would be sweet as Modi’s sworn enemy and RCA secretary Subhash Joshi called a truce and former RCA Chief Kishore Rungta had opted out of the RCA elections. Either of the panel only needed 17 of the 32 votes to gain majority, and inspite of Modi having patched-up with Joshi, he could not win the elections and it could therefore be a personal loss for Modi. Even Ashok Gehlot the present Chief Minister would feel vindicated and heave a sigh of relief as his role was also under the scanner in the present imbroglio.
