Rumor mills are spinning over time as speculation is rife that Shane Warne, the legendary Australian Cricketer may after all, be making a comeback to the Australian Cricket Team. While some welcome this news from the Cricketing World with glee, teams in other parts of the world might just view it with some amount of dread.

After having shaken the annals of World Cup Cricket and Test Cricket and sent the scoreboards soaring in a tizzy, the announcement of retirement from this prolific player had come as a blow and had left many of his fans thirsting for more.

The IPL Saga
Captaincy of the Rajasthan Royals Team in the IPL matches has reinstated Shane Warne on the popularity charts and live score boards as the cricketing sensation that he is and seems to have whetted not only the cricket appetites of his fans bit his own as well. Nothing succeeds like success, and Shane Warne’s success in the IPL has set everybody thinking that there’s a lot of cricket left in this Australian player yet. Warne, now 38 had retired from Test Cricket last year post the Ashes series, but is now, reportedly raring to come back after having tasted blood in the IPL.

There’s also a snigger doing the rounds that if the English Cricketers had heaved a sigh of relief at having seen the last of the big Aussie player then they would have to think again, because in all probability there’s more to come from him in next summer’s Ashes battle.

Yes but No
Shane Warne on his part however, dismisses the news as speculative yet keeps the door ajar by saying that if at all it does happen it would be a one off thing where he would step in if his team needed him for a Test match. Warne reminisces that having devoted 20 years of his life to cricket he misses it undoubtedly, and would have loved to be still playing but needed to take the time to be with his kids and family,  and also needed a break from the traveling and exacting routines.

“It would be cool just to turn up and play Test cricket”, says Warne. Well, rumor or not, if this gives English players some sleepless nights till the Ashes are here, then there’s none to be blamed right? The denials of a comeback to Test Cricket not withstanding, Shane Warne doesn’t sound as if he has put away his cricketing Test gloves forever, much to the delight of his cricket followers the world over. Stuart’s MacGill’s sudden retirement plans have stoked the rumors further. Shane however insists that it would only be a very dire situation that would make him come back and it would only be in response to an SOS call from his team.
