Now there is a bickering among the selectors of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) replacement for Shikhar Dhawan. But Chetan Chauhan, the DDCA selection committee chief, quelled the rumors of it being a bickering, and said it was more of a difference of opinion. At least he was trying to bring some semblance to the issue, by issuing his authority. The difference of opinion or bickering was about replacing Shikhar Dhawan, i.e. whether Nehra or Narwal should replace him. It would again depend upon who between the two of them recovers from the injury that they are suffering and makes himself available.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) selection committee that met on Monday to pick a replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan reportedly witnessed acrimonious scenes with the members failing to arrive at a consensus on the issue. While four of the five selectors reportedly wanted to send a batsman as replacement, committee chairman, Chetan Chauhan, insisted on picking a medium pacer. Tempers rose when both parties stuck to their respective positions.

The selectors who have a difference of opinion with Chetan Chauhan hold the view that id a batsman is injured, ideally a batman should be sent to replace him. A bowler ideally should not be a replacement for him, informed Anil Jain, one of the selectors.

Adding further spice to the controversy, however, Vijay Dahiya, the coach, informed that the team management had not made any specific demand to the selection committee. He clarified that the selection committee was informed that Shikhar Dhawan wasn’t available owing to injury, but no specific demand about the nature of replacements were made with the selectors. The ball was left in their court to take the decision. The Delhi team is right now in Agartala, playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
