The market is agog with the rumour that the West Indian player Ram Naresh Sarwan may be headed for the Indian Cricket League. Sarwan has however denied these rumors.  He has made a distance between himself and the ICL, as far as his association with the Indian Cricket League is concerned.

Ramnaresh Sarwan was one of the key players for the Kings of Punjab in the inaugural session of the Indian Premier League, IPL. However he could not do much with the ball, and with the discovery of Shaun Marsh in the team of Kings of Punjab, he did not much chance to play in the Indian Premier League as well. So to say, he had a rather lackluster tournament in the inaugural IPL season. So could this be the reason that the rumour is agog that he might be headed for the Indian Cricket League, as he may not get another opportunity to play in the IPL in the second season. But Sarwan denies that he has any idea of this kind in his mind. He informed that as of now he was not aware about any developments relating to IPL and the organizers of the tournament had not contacted him so far.

Indian Premier League after all is good money, but ICL is not far behind in paying, so it may have happened that the kind of money that Sarwan made last year in the IPL could have the temptation, which has given rise to the thought in his mind about fancying his chances with the Indian Cricket League.

As a matter of fact none of the West Indian players could make much headway in the IPL in the inaugural season and this included Chris Gayle as well. During the current season of bidding, according to Sarwan none of the players have been contacted. It had been reported that few players had been contacted by the ICL "Distancing myself from ICL", says Sarwan.and that the amount offered to them would be between US$350,000 and US$500,000 to participate.

But Sarwan has informed that he is not one of the five players who have been contacted to play in the ICL. He is also not aware about who all may appear in the ICL during the current season. As it is, Indian Cricket League has been postponed to October therefore the things are still in a very hazy state.  West Indies team is preparing to leave for South Africa. For Sarwan the immediate objective is to put the West Indies cricket back on course. West Indies may create history if they are able to hold on to the lead, as it would be after quite a long time that they would have got victory over England.
