It has happened after a long-long time in the New Zealand that they have become totally off-color and have lost a series that too to India. 44 years to be precise, after this has happened, and the after effects must be very bad. The present team of New Zealand is looking totally out of sync with the game and they have mowed by such a surgical precision that they do not know what has hit them. The view is gathering around that the loss of the master strategist Stephen Flemming, and their mercurial fast bowler Shane Bond has been one of the most fundamental reasons why the team has suddenly started on a downwards spiral.
From one series to another, while India has taken its revenge from 2003 series of caging the Kiwis in their own water (not den as water bodies have more pronounced presence in the Kiwis Island), the Kiwis have indeed been hit by a tsunami and the force of water is so impacted the Kiwis have lost their skills to maneuver on the surface which is their home turf. Just four years ago, Kiwis as a team was characterized by flair, charisma and a mean streak too. The flair had developed on account of the presence of an entity known as Shane Bond who by his sheer presence used to force the team to surrender against the fuselage that he used to unleash in a staccato manner on the batsmen of the opposite team with such a ferocious intensity that the batsmen did not know what hit them. Now this weapon from the armor has gone, and it is mainly on account of the fact that he decided to play for the ICL. The Kiwis have not been able to find a creditable replacement for both of them, and the top order, both for batting as well in bowling looks terribly impoverished. The Kiwis have received another mortal blow before the start of the test series, when it was found that their star bowler Jacob Oram would not be available for the first test match. The cups of woe are full to the brim.
