Ricky Ponting and his team prove that, they are still jaggernaut. Last time, when they come West-Indies and won world cup without losing a single match, they had match winning players in his team. But in this trip either these players are retired or injured.
They didn’t have Glen McGrath, Adam Gilchirst and Brad Hogg (all three retired from international arena) in his team and players likes, Matthew Hayden (Achilles injury) missing the entire series and both keeper Brad Haddin (broken finger) and Ricky Ponting (wrist) flying home early. O.D.I series first match started in St.Vincent. Australia score a formidable total 273/8 in 50 over, but West Indies stumbling so early in their chase, that they would not recover and the rest of the innings they were playing catch up cricket. In Grenada (second O.D.I), underdog could not capitalize the strong start given by their bowler, and allowing Kangaroos to post a challenging total in a surface that was sluggish and offered tricky seam movement and then collapsing miserably in the chase and lost the match by 63 runs(by d/l method). In third O.D.I West Indies scored 223 in 48 over on a same ground where second match had been played between this two team. West Indies thought that it was good total in this wicket, but Australia have some other plan for under dogs they sent IPL hero, Shane Watson as a opener (played his first one day in this trip) and scored 126 not out. Australia won the match comfortably by seven wickets. In St.Kitts (Fourth O.D.I), West Indies got down in ground with positive energy. Australia scored 282/8 in 50 over, under dogs looked good in starting, and at one point West Indies needed 13 runs in 18 balls with six wickets in his hand everybody think, that West Indies win this match with ease but suddenly real dram started and underdogs lost the match by one run. In fifth O.D.I, West Indies players looked weary, and Australian Wicket keeper Luke Ronchi didn’t want to miss this opportunity and scored quick fire 64 runs in 28 balls. Australia scored 341/8 in 50 overs. West Indies never looked in a game and lost the match by 169 runs.5-0 white wash proved, that Australia still got depth in his cricket and what they did in West Indies proof, that they have learned this type of performance from watching their predecessors. Only one 20-20 international match had been played between West Indies and Australia. Luke Ronchi and Shaun marsh did their 20-20 international debut for Australian and from West Indies six new players (SJ Bern, ADS Fletcher, XM Marshall, WKD Perkins, KA Pollard and KAJ Roach) did their debut. Australia scored 97/3 in 11 over, West Indies comfortably scored 102/3 in 9.1 overs and won the match with seven wickets. This defeat of Australia proof that there is no doubt that Australia has no.1 O.D.I and test side. But, if they want to be no.1 in this format of the game, they must improve their tactics, strategy and body language. This series is good for Australia and bad for West-Indies. Australia got newcomers likes Shaun marsh, David Hussey and Luke Ronchi. Rickey Ponting completed 300 matches in this tournament. Brett lee made the record of fastest 300 wickets in O.D.I. In West Indies camp Dwayne bravo fined 20 percent match fee by showing dissent at the umpire decision, they want to forget that series as soon as possible.
