Six foot one inch walks with swagger, undoubted temperament, uncommon skills, majestic, gorgeous, lovable, dumps the ball to the different areas of the ground and once in a generation cricketer. Yes, we are taking about Gilly or Adam Craig Gilchrist.

Now, Gilly is no more part of International cricket arena, he took retirement from all parts of the Game. Gilly done his O.D.I debut in 1996 against Pakistan, He had played his first test match against Pakistan in 1999. He has played his last test and O.D.I match against India in 2007-08.

Gilly retirement is good news for all those bowlers, who have been hammered by Gilly during his cricketing days. And bad news for his fans, which will miss Gilly bold strokes, fierce cuts, pulls and typical Gilly stuff. Gilly has revolutionized the no. 7 role in the test arena and the opening slot in One-day cricket. He always played right innings at the right time, when Australia needs those quick runs.

In his cricketing days, Gilly has felicitated by so many awards. In 2002, Gilchirst one of five wisden cricketers of the year, he won best O.D.I Australia player of the year in 2003-4. 2004-5 was voted as world scariest batsman in a poll of International Bowlers. Even in the slower arena of test cricket, he was known for his explosive batting and puts quick runs on the board and helping win a test match that was headed for a draw. Gilchirst has ushered in the era of the batsman-wicketkeeper. He dents the opposition psychologically, of his destructive batting and astonishing ability behind the wicket. Gilchrist also scored the fastest Australian test century

Gilly is truly a genuine person, knowing he was out, started walking. He always upheld the spirit of the game with his noble action. How could we forget the 2003 world cup semi-final match, when he started walking before looked the umpire decision, it was a shock, yet a surprising act. Gilchrist is also an ambassador for the charity world vision in India. Australian cricket will take so much time to fill his place. It is impact made by this go- getter, and his contribution in the cricketing field has been unique and peerless. He is truly an inspiring person and cricketer.
