Pietersen All Praises for Team India, IPL Print E-mail

Kevin Pietersen was recently reported in the cricket news as praising Team India and how in this Indian tour of New Zealand, India had taken the game of international cricket to a new level. He puts down to the Indian Premier League, the fact that the Indian players have made such progress. He added that English players needed to “learn how to hit sixes and fours.”

Disparaging the performance of his own English team over the past some months and expressing frustration for the losing streak that the English players currently seem to be on, Kevin Pietersen expressed amazed admiration for the Indian team and players as reported in the cricket news. Pietersen was all praises for the men in blue as he said, "India have taken the game to a new level.  Their scores in New Zealand at the moment are ridiculous. Compare that to how we played in New Zealand last year and they are on a different plane. We have got to do something."

Pietersen has a reason for why India is doing so well in international cricket right now, and that is the Indian Premier League (IPL). "I think the reason India's cricket has gone through the roof is because of the Indian Premier League. I said that when we missed out on it last year there's no way we can catch up. It's important for our players to learn how to hit sixes and fours,” said Pietersen.

Pietersen’s recent assertion about the IPL probably stems from the fact that he was one among the two most expensive players ever to be signed up for the IPL at $1.55 million, because earlier he had been heard as saying that the T20 format is a ‘silly’ one. Well he seems to have changed his mind now!

As for Pietersen’s on now-off again stance on playing for IPL2, he has been concerned about the security angle of things and was quoted in a cricket news publication as saying, "I've just got an email about security there and I'm going to follow it up over the next couple of days," said Pietersen. "They are still gathering all the information. I definitely want to play Twenty20 cricket and in the IPL. I'm taking advice from Reg (Dickason) and from Bob Nicholls, who is the security consultant and is a mate of mine, also from my manager and one or two other options."

Right now, Pietersen is looking forward to the upcoming ODI series in West Indies. He takes some consolation from the way that the English players played in the last test; that they played positive cricket and hopes to carry this on for the upcoming ODI series.

According to breaking cricket news however, the English have lost the single T20 match played in the West Indies yesterday with the West Indians romping home with 6 wickets and 2 overs to spare.
