It was expected that Aussies will bag the Frank Worrell Trophy by beating the West Indian cricket team, but they had to fight all the way to the victory stand. Australia won this three-Test cricket series 2-0. The third and final Test against West Indies was concluded in an 87-run victory for the Australian cricket team. The Aussies already won the opening Test at Sabina Park in the Jamaica capital of Kingston by 95 runs. The second Test match at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground was concluded in a draw. With 442 runs up his sleeve, Shivnarine Chanderpaul was named the player of the series despite his side’s defeat. Australian opener Simon Katich bagged the man of the match title in the final Test for the cricket magic he created with the bat, giving his team cool 157 runs in Australia’s 2nd innings. For the Australian cricket team it was not easy to conclude this 87-run win in the last match. West Indies was made to chase 475 for victory. But they were all packed off the pitch half an hour before the tea break after making just 387 in their second innings. Now it was up to Brett Lee to expedite the result; one of his short, rising ball was enough to send Daren Powell straight into the trap of the wicketkeeper, Brad Haddin. Before lunch it was pretty clear which side is going to win the cricket series; Beau Casson and Stuart Clark picked up two vital wickets; Casson sent back Dwayne Bravo for 69, and Shivnarine Chanderpaul was picked up by Clark after making half a century. But the ninety minutes that Chanderpaul and Bravo were at the pitch, proved to be pretty tough for the Australian side. At the interval, West Indies score stood at 316 for five in their second innings. West Indies’ Shivnarine Chanderpaul was brilliant as ever throughout this cricket series. A huge score of 442 runs, including two centuries and three half centuries came from the bat of this left-handed batsman. He made the first century even after getting struck by a bouncer from Brett Lee. After receiving medical attention he went on to display some wonderful cricket consisting of a 118 run innings. On the Australian side the Test newcomer Casson stole the attention with his style and skill.
