The recent buzz in the cricketing world has been revolving around Shane Warne’s magnificent performance as a coach cum captain in IPL which we can say that Cricket Australia (CA) has been deprived of. It’s interesting to note that no one thought of Warne once he ode goodbye to the game as a player.
The irony has been the attitude of the cricket boards towards their players across all the cricketing nations. But in this recent mess by CA, Warne has kept his calm & believed that what he id was right. This is a sign of a legendary cricketer, setting an example for the ex-players, current senior players & also the ones who are still in their early days. Warne at present is very much involved with his dearest Victorian team and also with the CA for training the budding spinners. This a step towards filling the craters created in the Australian Bowling Attack. One of the young buds going to be trained by Shane is 25-year-old Beau Casson. When there’s so much buzz all around just after the BCCI’s blockbuster venture “IPL” , how come there’s no contribution from BCCI to stir the ‘soup’ with its spices. So is BCCI going for a silent kill, which is very much unlikely of its character? Now, this silent kill must be sounding like a mystery to you. So let’s solve it. Do you remember the number of times & the ways employed by BCCI in it’s never ending “COACH HUNTING MISSION”?? Yes, I’m talking about BCCI keeping an eye on Shane as a prospect of future coach of the Indian Squad. At present Gary Kirsten is on the job and has spent half a year out of the 2 years contract with the BCCI. But by the end of 2009 the BCCI mission will be again in operation with the usual pomp & show. Keeping this in mind, is BCCI keeping a track of the developments made by Shane in the coaching arena? This only the time can tell. Shane has become a prospect not just because of the IPL performance but also due to the put down of the rumours of retuning back into full time cricket. And he has also taken up the job of mentoring the spin-bowlers training for Cricket Australia. So lets hope that from the point of view we have analysed the situation, BCCI also does but thinking on the terms of the positive changes resulting into long term benefits for the Indian Cricket and not just creating a fuss about coach selection & then making him a mere puppet.
