In his long stint with 10 Downing Street, he had emerged victorious during a number of international crises. But this time his fight is on the pitch with the likes of international cricket star Shane Warne and Hollywood hunk, Hugh Jackman. Can the former British Prime Minister outshine his co- players on the crease?
John Major is padding up for a ballgame different from the one he used to play as international political figure. In the next month’s Australia versus England Hollywood Ashes cricket match in Los Angeles; he will take up the bat and ball along with singer Ozzy Osborne, actor Hugh Jackman and a number of first class cricketers including Shane Warne and veteran Graham Hick. The fun-filled twenty-20 match is going to be held on May 3 at LA's Woodley Cricket Field. The top notch personalities from all fields - television to Hollywood to international cricket - are going to grace the event’s honorary board. In addition to Jackman, Major and Osborne, talk show king Michael Parkinson and media-Mogul Rupert Murdoch have agreed to sit on the board. However, the final list of the team has not been announced yet and organizers are hopeful of coming up with one in the next fortnight. It is going to be a star studded event with a number of Hollywood stars and international cricket players teaming up for the event - confirms the organizers. The English team however already roped in 65 star players from both A-listers and international cricket. They have even finalized on the captain of the team - Test veteran Graham Hick is going to lead the England side in this shortest format of cricket match. Last year the Australian side was spearheaded by Steve Waugh and Mike Whitney and consisted of star golfer Ian Baker-Finch, surf champion Layne Beachley and actor Cameron Daddo. But a Robert Key led England team, which also featured Simon Jones defeated the Aussie side.
