The rising superstar of South Indian film industry Laxmi Rai maintains that she is just a buddy of Dhoni and denies something more than plain friendship exists between them. The cricket news media however claimed that both were seen spending good deal of times in each other’s company. Clearly Dhoni was Laxmi’s main point of attraction in the actress’s birthday bash that had few more cricketers in its invitee list. And now, the Belgaum beauty announces in an election campaign in Bangalore that MS Dhoni could make a good leader for the country. “Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh comprises all qualities required to be a good leader,” said Laxmi while campaigning for BSP candidate Vijay Singh in Shivaji Nagar, Bangalore.

The pretty friend of Dhoni has a suggestion for her cricketer friend; after making it big in the world of cricket, he must try his hands in politics. Having all the qualities of a leader, Mahi should contest the election for giving the nation its new leader - feels the south Indian actress who shot to fame with her proximity to the Indian skipper. She also added that she had even wanted the cricketer joining the poll campaigns. But it was his busy international cricket schedule that kept him away from this added tasks.

Laxmi has been a regular visitor of the IPL matches, whenever CSK featured in the games and she was at her loudest whenever Mahi hit the pitch. She however broke down into tears when media suggested an intimate relationship budding between the couple. It is just good friendship and adoration of fan that is all….a weeping Laxmi confirmed.

She thrashes the media for first linking her up with a co-star and then with Indian skipper. She alleged all these attempts were meant for defaming her character in public. “First, they published ’exclusives’ on me and linked with a co-star and now with famous cricketer Dhoni. I don’t know from where they manage to get such kind of gossips. Maintaining a good friendship with cricket stars like Dhoni is not a sin. It is a pride to a fan like me.”
