It is his fans from all over the world, who convinced the authorities in the Madam Tussauds that they would really like to see the wax replica of Sachin Tendulkar among the other who’s who of the world. As the museum unveils the statue for public viewing on April 24, Sachin Tendulkar becomes the first Indian sporting celebrity whose wax replica is going to be displayed in world famous Madam Tussauds.

When Sachin Tendulkar looked at his statue for the first time, the astounding similarity left the batting maestro gasp with amazement. The statue was meant for the eyes of the master batsman and his family - it will be opened at the Tussauds for general public on April 24, on his 36th birthday. The life-like replica was unveiled on Tuesday at Taj Lands End Hotel, near his residence. His wife Anjali and children Arjun and Sara were also present to take a close look on this creation of art.

It is the detailing in the figurine that seemed to have appealed the international cricket star most. As he disclosed, he himself picked up the pose. All smiling and arms holding bat and helmet, thrown up in the air in ecstasy - a pose you rarely find Tendulkar in. A composed man - both on and off the pitch, Sachin is not famous for public display of emotions. But there are times when you break off your shell to celebrate the moments of sheer happiness, when he overtook Brian Lara to become the world’s highest run scorer for instance. The cricket news media was quick enough to can the precious moment and the snap was picked up by the Master Blaster when it came to choosing for a pose for the wax replica to be placed in legendary Madam Tussauds.

‘‘It’s something special,’’ told Tendulkar. ‘‘I have never reacted to anything like this in my life. It’s difficult to express in words what is very close to something identical. I’m glad it does not breathe. The detailing is so much,’’ he added. However, the star of international cricket does not have any special preference when it comes to placing his wax statue. When asked by next to whom he would wish his wax statue to be placed at the Tussauds, Tendulkar said, “I don't mind to be next to anybody. The fact that it will be there itself was a great honour. There are so many great personalities there including Indians.” As it turned out, the statue is most likely to be placed besides another legend of international cricket, Brian Lara’s figurine.
Sachin with his Wax Replica!
Sachin will not be able to make it to the inaugural ceremony on 24th of this month, as he would be busy playing in IPL. As the IPL Season 2 ends next month, Sachin plans to make a visit to Madam Tussauds to see his wax replica standing among world’s most prominent celebrities. And it will be his first ever visit to the legendry wax museum. “Right from 15 years of age I have thought of going to the Tussauds and even during my stay in England to play cricket I did not have time to go there because of my schedule. This time I will be there to know how these wax statues are made of,” he said.
