Shah Rukh Khan was much in the cricket news last year for taking great care of his players in IPL’s inaugural edition, showering them with gifts and making them feel special. So what are his plans this year? Well he plans to feed them this year; take even better care of them! With characteristic charm and wit, SRK said, that he didn’t know about the cricket but “We are the coolest looking team!”
The single biggest cricket controversy to hit the headlines this IPL is the multiple captain theory of KKR coach John Buchanan. In response to questions King Khan said this that his team was the coolest looking and that they were working on amazing plans including the controversial one about captaincy. According to him they are well prepared, and though there are issues of injury they will be there 100% and will try to do much better than last year. He said KKR has the benefit of more foreign players this year and therefore will be more competitive. Though Ponting’s availability is clearly in doubt, Khan has still not given up hope. He has however set a lot “of store by players such as Chris Gayle, McCullum, David Hussey and Brad Hodge whom he thinks will greatly strengthen the team. He fielded a barrage of questions with consummate ease that comes naturally to someone who is used to being in the limelight at all times. One media person questioned Khan about his way of text messaging his team players last year before and after the match and whether he planned to do it again this year. Ever the entertainer, cricket news had it that last year King Khan went so far as to sing and dance for his players so as to keep them amused. Did he plan to do that this year as well? Never short of wit, Khan replied that this year he plans to feed them too; perhaps indicating that he would be taking real good care of his players and make sure they lacked for nothing. Among the media persons were also, inevitably his adoring fans, some of whom had watched all movies; missing none whose questions also King Khan fielded with great élan while at the same time being completely non committal. As for his team’s fortunes, one is quite sure that Khan’s point of view is that which he expresses so frequently, that his team will win; Insha Allah! Or as they say, God willing!
