Sachin Tendulkar has reached a stage in his cricket career when he does not have anything left to prove to anyone, which he has himself said in the cricket IPL news. According to him he did not start playing cricket to prove anything to anyone; he plays because of the love of the game and the fact that he still enjoys himself. Following his team’s win against the Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, Tendulkar gave credit for the win to mentor Shaun Pollock and fielding coach Jonty Rhodes who according to him are among the best cricketing brains in South Africa.
You can see it in his boyish enthusiasm, his big grin, the camaraderie he shares with the junior most colleague, that this is a man who is greatly enjoying his cricket. After nearly 20 years in the game, he is not jaded; he still lives and breathes cricket. His bat has spoken for him all these years and he does not have to prove anything to anyone in international cricket. He was quoted in the cricket news as saying that he, and others like Rahul Dravid play because of the love of the game, doing which sometimes they perform and sometimes they don’t. "People say you should do this and that but the important thing is the enjoyment and your contribution to the team. It need not be about big runs or wickets, even making a small contribution to the team it matters. It's all about contribution and satisfaction," said the little maestro. He attributed his team’s win to the team’s mentor Shaun Pollock and fielding coach Jonty Rhodes. “There are no better people than Shaun and Jonty to tell us about the conditions. They have worked tremendously over the past few weeks along with the third coach Praveen Amre,” Tendulkar said. “Pollock and Rhodes have been working with the Mumbai Indians playing squad in Durban and used all their expertise in getting the youngsters used to the conditions here. Rhodes and Pollock are among the best minds in South African cricket,” he added.
