While the younger brother curved his niche in the international cricket, the elder found his calling in the world of politics. While the younger Dhoni is believed to have all the essential materials for making of a good political leader, it is his elder brother who took to the political foray first. Is the Indian skipper soon to follow the footsteps of his elder brother who shares his first name and ideology with India’s Hindu nationalist leader Narendra Modi?
It is not only her girl friend, but there are many, who believe that MS Dhoni has the spark to make it big in the big bad world of politics. Yet, it is his elder brother Narendra Singh Dhoni, who was the first in the family to join the political bandwagon. Though he is not keen on contesting election, he is interested in emulating the high profile BJP leaders in working for his state. A blind fan of Narendra Modi and L.K Advani, the senior Dhoni informed media that his political ambition involves replication of Narendra Modi’s Gujrat development model for Jharkhand. “With Atal Behari Vajpayee and Advani in its ranks, I find the BJP as the perfect platform from where I can work for the people,” said Dhoni’s elder brother who takes interest in cricket only because his brother is in the driver’s seat in Indian cricket. While cricket clearly does not feature too much on his scheme of things, BJP does and when it comes to showcase his unconditional devotion for something, he would reserve it for everything associated with BJP. It is Gujrat CM Narendra Modi and his exploits that had inspired Narendra to take the plunge in politics. “I would have joined the BJP the day Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi came to town campaigning for Ramtahal Choudhary, the party’s nominee in Ranchi. Unfortunately, I fell sick and was confined to bed. Today, I took the plunge,” he said pledging to serve the interest of the BJP. While the Indian skipper is busy fighting it out in Indian Premier League for his team CSK, his brother is busy with poll campaigning for BJP candidates. Mahi was known for his proximity with AJSU chief and former state home minister Sudesh Mahto. But Mahi’s secret political preference was made public by his elder brother who claimed that Mahi had been BJP supporter since 1991. While asked about his brother’s future plans about joining Indian politics, Narendra said that at present he might be too preoccupied with cricket to give a consideration to this. As a matter of fact, Indian cricketers are so preoccupied with cash rich IPL at the moment that they are going to give a miss to their most precious democratic right that is casting a vote. Perhaps Indian politics will find a leader in MS Dhoni when he starts planning for his retirement days after saying good bye to international cricket. Till then let your imagination go wild over thinking in what color Dhoni would look better - pristine white or a fierce orange!
