The tag of being associated with a rebel league that is the Indian Cricket League has been become such a mill around the neck of the Pakistani cricketers that there cricketing career in the national mainstream has virtually reached a dead end. It is inspite of the fact that there is quite a lot of cricket left in them. Therefore it could be welcome news that these seven players including the former captain of Pakistan Inzamam-ul-Haq who played in the Indian Cricket League, ICL feature in the American Cricket league.
Success has many fathers, and in the recent memory in the arena of cricket there is no success like the Indian Premier League. No wonder, getting inspired from the same, an American Cricket League has come into vogue in America and it would feature seven Pakistani players who were associated with the Indian Cricket League, the rebel cricket league in India. The party from Pakistan, which is going to be a part of the American League, includes former Pakistan Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Imran Farhat, Imran Nazir and Saqlain Mushtaq. They have taken this decision as they are without any engagement and as a sports person has a short career span, they would definitely like to make some money before age catches up with them. As it is, the experiment of conducting cricket matches in the neighboring country of USA, Canada had met with a huge success, when India and Pakistan used to play one-day series in Toronto. The appetite of the spectator has already been whetted and in USA also there is a captive audience that would throng the stadiums to soak in the ambience of the American Cricket League. American Sports and Entertainment Group Inc. are promoting the American Cricket League and Jay Mir, the President and CEO of this organization has drawn up ambitious plans for a six team American Premier League as informed. This league would has been scheduled for the month of October, and as America does not have cricket playing grounds, a baseball court in Staten Island, New York city, would be converted into the cricket ground to hold the matches of the American Cricket League. The interesting point in this development would be the manner in which it is taken by the authorities of IPL. If they agree to it, it is well and fine; otherwise they can pressurize the Board of Cricket of the cricket playing countries not to allow their players to play in the American Cricket League.
