John Abraham Comes-up as a Batsman Now Print E-mail
Pitched By Cricket360 Reporter

Rating 3.0/5 (2 votes)

With the active involvement of the film personalities of the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty, in the Indian Premier League, and other stars either participating or commentating (Arbaaz Khan doing it for Times Now), it was just a mater of time before a film based on cricket theme would be announced.

The announcement has been made and the lead has been taken by the UTV Motion Pictures'. UTV Motion Pictures' has announced that its next film Hook Ya Crook would have cricket as the backdrop. The film, directed by the David Dhawan, has John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza, Kay Kay Menon and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles. The film is set in a prison and revolves around a cricket match played among the inmates.

Cricket has been a subject that has been used as a subject by the film makers off and on. With the nation caught in the frenzy of the IPL, the film makers also decided to join the party and UTV Motion Pictures has announced a new film with John Abraham in lead role. John Abraham has already featured in a sports film earlier, it being Dhan Dhanadhan Goal, where he was a football player.

It would be for the first time that David Dhawan would be working for the UTV Motion Pictures, and with the kind of image that he has it is anticipated that this film would also be a laugh riot. The USP of the film could be the fresh pairing of John and Genelia, first time on the big screen. The film has been shot majorly at Ramoji Rao, Film City, Hyderabad. The supporting cast includes Pavan Malhotra, Murali Sharma, Krishna and Sharad Kapoor. As the Indian captain M S Dhoni, is a good friend of John Abraham, there are rumors that he might play a guest role in the film.

Hindi films had flirted for the first time with cricket when Dev Anand had directed Aamir Kahn in Awaal Number and after that the iconic film Lagaan was the film which was the most successful film where cricket was used as a backdrop. Interestingly enough cricket legends of the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Sandeep Patil, and Kapil Dev have also been allured by the glitter of the silver screen and have acted in few films before calling it day. In this list name of Syed Kirmani also needs to be included as he had played the role of a villain in the film before calling it a day. How would Dhoni take his flirting with the film would be a topic that can only be taken to a new level after the film is released. Watch out this space!
