Behind the pleasing veneer that Chairman of the Indian Selection Board, Krishnamachari Srikkanth poses every time a match of Chennai Super Kings unfolds in the second season of the Indian Premier League, his prying eyes are also on the prowl for the probable for the 15 member squad of India. He indeed is living up to his nick name of "chika", and in a tiger like proportion he is present in all the matches and preparing a list of probable from whom the final squad would shape up to be shipped to England for the
T20 World Cup Championship. The players who are playing in the second season of the IPL are also therefore leaving no stone unturned to impress the selectors to carve out a place for themselves in the final Indian squad.
BCCI has already been on the job and has short listed 30 probable from which 14 players have done their bit to make a case for themselves once again. Among the creditable performances that are worth noticeable is that of R P Singh who is really relishing bowling in the South African condition and could be able to make it up to the English squad on account of his ability to perform in the South African conditions.
If a comparison from the previous Indian squad that won the inaugural World Cup of 20-20 variety, S Sreesanth, and Joginder Sharma may not be able to fit into the Indian squad, Sreesanth on account of his fitness problems and Joginder Sharma for a lack luster performance. Pathan brothers would be there in the squad and there is a distinct probability that Munaf Patel and Pragyan Ojha would also find a place for themselves.
There could be an interesting toss up between Munaf Patel and either Virat Kohli or Abhishek Nayyar. It may be on account of the fact that Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may decide to strengthen his bating department, and inclusion of either of these two players may also give him an additional bowling option, and a better fielding option, when compared to Munaf Patel.
Likely Team: Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, M S Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Harbhajan Singh.
