It is only in the second season but the Indian Premier League has turned out to be a such a resounding marketing success that the grape wine is agog with the rumor that the teams that are playing in the IPL, may go in for listing in the stock markets. As it is, the Indian stock market is one of the most vibrant stock markets in the world, and if stocks of IPL are able to make their debut, then it would really set the market on fire as it would invite investors from all over the globe.

Such has been the success that valuation of the IPL has already been initiated. According to the United Kingdom-based brand valuation consultancy Brand Finance IPL is worth more than whopping $2 billion. IPL brand on its own has a brand value of over $311 million. With such a huge monetization attached to the value of the IPL, it has got strong potential of having a long-term value with its strong intrinsic strength and foundation. The professional manner, in which IPL is being run today, makes it just like another company in operation in the market, and it has handsome valuations for the share holders on a long term value. IPL can be listed on the stock markets in the same manner as the popular English Premier League football teams.

Innovation imbedded in the IPL has made it a resounding success and has attracted fan following from around the world, and it is increasing exponentially on a daily basis. 'If there was one product with a "Made in India", brand tag, and to associate with it there is a clamor among all the major international companies of the world, it is the IPL. There is no other product that has invited such a phenomenal attention in such a small span of time. "Brand India"' identity has moved more than a notch in the international reckoning.

Would the politicians of the country be ruing the fact that they have missed the bus by not allowing the IPL to be held inside India? With the talks of stock market listing, it may turn out to be another venture that has attained success without much direct support from the political dispension. IPL has demonstrated that a sport as a corporate entity can attain a success, what is required is the resolve and the grit to persevere.
