The End of John Buchanan Print E-mail
Pitched By Sharad with C360 Reporter

Rating 5.0/5 (2 votes)

The Cricket360 team has obtained exclusive insider information about the John Buchanan – KKR fiasco. Speaking with Cricket360.com, John Buchanan has denied that he would resign. Cricket360 has also spoken to sources from the Shah Rukh Khan Camp who have indicated that this would be the cause for another controversy in the middle of the tournament which was to be avoided.

John Buchanan has done nothing to endear himself either to the cricket loving public of India or his team owners who reportedly reposed implicit faith in him, his knowledge of the game and his theories. He has also done nothing much to endear himself to the players of the Kolkata Knight Riders, managing to alienate many, side line and undermine others and not really managing to get any positive results for the team as a whole.

So perhaps it came as no surprise to most people in the international cricket community that John Buchanan has now been shown the door in no uncertain terms. It was all over the cricket news yesterday and on TV, that KKR Coach John Buchanan has been sacked.

Cricket360 had the chance to speak to the man himself and managed to get an exclusive interview with him. Asking him about the team and the sacking, there was a surprising answer in store. Far from taking his bow and gracefully admitting defeat, Buchanan has denied that he would be resigning!

If SRK wants Buchanan out, that is really not surprising to anyone at this stage. Buchanan’s new and much decried multi captain theory which effectively deposed Sourav Ganguly from the KKR captaincy was a resounding failure. When it created such a furore in the cricket news, it was SRK himself who came out in support of the coach, backing him fully and defending the theory, taking on some of the great names in international cricket in the process. If he is feeling sadly let down and disillusioned with someone in whom faith was reposed, that is to be expected.

In another Cricket360 exclusive, sources from the SRK camp spoke during a chat, and made it clear that King Khan does not want Buchanan around anymore. So obviously the next question was why not sack him and get it all over with? To this the reply was that they wanted to avoid creating another controversy in the middle of the tournament. After the tournament is over, SRK would “settle things with Buchanan” Cricket360 was informed.

This has been an unseemly episode that has hogged international cricket news headlines and has had nothing to show for it. In the end what emerged was that the multi captain theory was just that; a theory. Though out the competition, it has been the sadly out of form Brendon McCullum in charge, so that one is forced to conclude that this was just a cleverly disguised ploy to actually get rid of Sourav Ganguly from the captaincy, to undermine his power in the team and to relocate the power centre in the team perhaps to the coach.
