Only a few days ago, Rajasthan Royals have lost their much hyped fast bowler Kamran Khan to a bowling rehab and now another bowler from their camp has sparked off umpires’ suspicion for bowling actions. Is Amit Singh - the right arm medium pacer in Shane Warne’s squad - too on his way to rehabilitation?
Yet another suspected bowling action in Indian Premier League, and quite a coincidence - it has happened again with the defending champs Rajasthan Royals! This time, it is Amit Singh, the right arm medium pacer in Shane Warne’s group who has made the umpires suspicious with his bowling actions! The on-field umpires Mr. Daryl Harper and Mr. K. Hariharan, reported the matter to IPL’s technical committee, after they noticed something going wrong with Amit Singh’s bowling actions in the match at the Centurion, in which Mr. S. Venkatraghavan was the match referee. It was during the game between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rajasthan Royals at the Super Sport Park Centurion near Pretoria last night, that the Umpires duo noticed a suspect bowling action on certain deliveries from Amit. And then it was the repetition of the same procedure; wait till the match ends, obtain the footages and get them closely scrutinized by all three umpires including the TV Umpire for the match, Mr. Tyron Wijewardene. It is not clear whether Amit will soon be packed off to the same rehab, now Kamran has been attending or further actions await him! The issue is still on the table of IPL’s technical committee after the matter was referred by the Indian Premier League to the team management of the Rajasthan Royals and the IPL’s Technical Committee as per the Laws of Cricket. Amit Singh represents Gujarat in the Indian Domestic cricket. He has been one of the architects of RR’s victory against RCB yesterday. Picking up 3 crucial wickets in yesterday’s game, he attracted the attention of the audience, but not for the first time. Like Kamran, Amit too was being considered one of the fresh IPL talents to watch out for. With a pretty accurate line and length and an ability to hit the deck, Amit could prove an asset for RR. But bad luck for Shane Warne’s team! RR seems to pack all the suspect action types in its fold; many have the feeling that Siddharth Trivedi too has a bowling action that looks a little dodgy. Now the captain seems to be in the dire need for correcting the deliveries of his younger team members. Another bowler off to rehab and RR’s chances are slashed off severely.
