Drama followed by more drama! First the South Indian film star Daisy Bopanna claims that there is something more than mere friendship in her relationship with cricketer Sreesanth. Then the cricketer slammed the claim as nonsense and a publicity gimmick. Now it is the turn of the jilted lady to give a good thrashing to the cricketer and says she considers Sreesanth too small to lend the name for publicity.
She is a budding actress in one of India’s most cash-rich movie industry; he is a struggling cricketer trying to curve his niche in the highly lucrative Indian Premier League. It could be the beginning of India’s yet another blockbuster love story involving actress and cricketer. But the cupid clearly was not in the sides of the couple and the relationship suffered an early death, with he first denying the news of their relationship and latter she reacting to his humiliating comments. The pretty actress from Kannada film industry was the latest to join the list of Sreesanth’s celebrity girl friends. The pace bowler from Kerala has hogged the lime light before for his affairs with Bollywood babes as well as key personalities from the world of media and entertainment. Starting from leading actress Priyanka Chopra to the new comer, Surveen Chawla to famous TV anchor Shonali Nagrani - Sreesanth seemed to be always busy wooing the beautiful ladies. The reaction of Sreesanth was rather harsh calling her claim a nonsense and an attempt to latch on to his name. He insisted that he met the lady only for two hours during the shooting for an ad and has lost the touch since. He even denied carrying her number! When the media was eagerly waiting for the reaction from the Rama Shama Bhama star, here it came at last. The budding actress says that she is in no immediate need for seeking publicity through the name of a struggler like Sreesanth. “I have worked with superstars far superior and popular, from the north and the south. If I was publicity hungry I guess I would have chosen one of them for a link-up long ago instead of awaiting for an insignificant cricketer, who has a petty and frivolous public image,” says the jilted actress. Daisy, who has tasted some success in her field, maintains that she would definitely not want to link her name with a man, who is still a struggler in his field. “I certainly would not want to risk my untarnished image with some one who is still struggling.” Daisy however thinks, the cricketer who represents Mohali in Indian Premier League should have behaved more maturely. “Unfortunately, the cricketer has chosen to react impulsively and immaturely without clarifying facts or without understanding its meaning in its actuality. Clearly this is a product of misunderstanding, and I would like the media to neither mediate nor help resolve it. I wish him all the best and hope sanity prevails,” the carefully chosen words in the statement clearly show the ‘the end’ sign to their love story. In Cricket360’s opinion, Daisy’s statements bear some truth; it is high time Sreesanth graduate from his ‘cry baby’ image by shedding some of his idiosyncrasies from his personalities to carry himself more maturely both on and off field. He will definitely not make a worse bowler without his on-field eccentricities.
