As Delhi Daredevils take on Rajasthan Royals today at Bloemfontein, skipper Virender Sehwag is aware of the pitfalls of complacency should his team take it easy today. While DD are assured of a semi final spot and are still at the top of the board they have lost their last game to Kings XI Punjab and know that the winning momentum, once lost can be a difficult thing to regain. And Rajasthan will be confident coming out of their last match against Mumbai which was an absolute thriller where Rajasthan literally snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
It was arguably one of the most terrific ends of any of the matches in the DLF IPL 2009 so far when Mumbai Indians lost in a rather spectacular fashion to the Rajasthan Royals in their last match by just 2 runs. With Mumbai needing just 4 runs in the last over and with three wickets in hand, Rajasthan pulled on an incredible win in that last Munaf Patel over, which makes the Royals an upbeat and confident side right now. The captain’s commitment to his team is exemplary, which was evidenced by his presence in the side for the do or die match even with a hamstring injury and then steering his team to an unbelievable win. Sehwag will have to contend with the wily Warne today and also with a creeping complacency which perhaps was why Punjab was able to get the better of the Daredevils earlier. However Sehwag as averred in the cricket news that his team is not taking it easy, and that team morale is not negatively impacted by the loss to Punjab. "We are not taking it easy. If we start losing the kind of form Twenty20 is you lose the momentum. It's very hard to get back the (winning) momentum. So we have tried to keep the momentum with us and hopefully we will do well in the next couple of games," said Sehwag. What will be interesting to see is if Glenn McGrath finally gets a look in today as Sehwag has indicated. "We will try couple of changes in next few games. Hopefully, McGrath will get a chance to play," he said. If so a clash of two Aussie titans, living bowling legends will be on the cards as McGrath and Warne go head to head!
