Shaun Tait Not Amused by His Changed Status by the ACB Print E-mail
Pitched By Cricket360 Investigator

For a sports person degradation of a status without providing him an opportunity to prove his merit, more so after he is coming from a lay-off forced by injury is a cause of humiliation. Shaun Tait the Aussie fast bowler is feeling the same way. His indignation stems from the change in his status that was announced by the Australian Cricket Board when it announced new contract for the players for the year 2009-10. He is so much offended by his change in status that he has decided to take recourse to English domestic cricket and also look to playing in the financially rewarding Twenty-Twenty tournaments.

When Shaun Tait was not allowed to play in the second season by the ACB, it was with the intention that his services would be required in the near future, as understood by Tait. But he feels that he has been delivered a knock out punch by the ACB when he has not been picked up in the Aussie squad, and he has also not been given any kind of contract by the ACB. He has a tendency of getting injured; therefore the physio of CA had decided not to allow him to play in the Indian Premier League. He feels that ACB has pulled a smart one on him, firstly by not allowing him to play in the IPL, and subsequently by denying him the contract for 2009-10.

The salt has been rubbed into his wound by not picking him up for the One-day series between Australia and Pakistan and also for the Twenty-20 World Cup squad. Had Tait been playing for the Rajasthan Royals he would have made $700,000, and he is not counting the regular income that would have come his way, had he been awarded a contract by the ACB.

In hindsight, he however opines, that he has not been surprised by this development. He would have been surprised if he would have been awarded the contract. He is aware about the fact that his body is not cooperating with him. But he feels that the advent of IPL would take care of him in a good manner. While denial of contract has meant that he would not be able to make much money, he still has hopes that he could play for Australia. He is also really annoyed by the succor handed out to him that he may be considered for the series against England.

He has now decided to focus his energy on playing some country cricket in England, and play with some franchisee in the IPL.
