As the second season of the IPL builds to a close finish, the clashes between teams for the semi-finals are proving to be disappointing for a few and triumphant for few. Of course, of 8 teams only 4 will make it to the semis, and the remaining four have little choice but to make way. Yesterday, the champions of the first season, the Rajasthan Royals crashed out of the semi-finals after a 4 wicket loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders, but Shane Warne believes that they’re leaving with their heads held high.

"We played fantastic cricket throughout the tournament. We were one of the best sides of the IPL though we lost the last two matches and failed to make it to semifinals," Warne is quoted saying after the match.

"Our fans must be disappointed. Munaf Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Singh and other youngsters played well in the tournament and today also we showed a lot of character hanging around till the end."

As for what went wrong with the match against KKR, he said, "We did not have the runs to defend; there was too many failures among the top order batsmen. But we hung on and kept Kolkata under pressure in their run chase. We showed lots of character but Kolkata played really well under pressure to win the match."

Now that the tournament is over for the Rajasthan Royals, Warne has expressed a keen desire to coach spinners in India if the BCCI ever offers him the job.

"If there is any offer or something like that I will seriously consider. I love Indian culture. It took a long time to embrace the culture and get to appreciate India and probably taking couple of tour to understand," Warne told The Hindu.

"As far as BCCI is concerned I love working with the spin bowlers over there. I worked with Yusuf Pathan, (left-arm spinner) Ravindra Jadeja and he had a great last year and he has done well this year also," he added.

He asserts that the IPL has been fantastic, and his associations with India and the time he spent here has been a very fruitful experience.
