With the international cricket stars, the Bollywood hotties, the cheerleaders and the controversies, and many things more, Indian Premier League is the recipe for the ultimate entertainment. Good cricket apart, it unfolded the saga of heroics and colossal failures. While everybody is in a great hurry to pick up the heroes, Cricket360 makes a list of worst performers of the tournament.

The English duo Pietersen and Flintoff:

One was picked up by liquor Barron, Vijay Mallya for a whopping $1.5 to boost up his team that finished last but one in IPL in its inaugural season. Another was bought for the same price by the CSK. The first was Pietersen and second was Flintoff. Both of them failed miserably without making any significant contribution for their respective teams. As long as Pietersen was there, it looked like RCB was going to repeat history once again and as he went back home, the team gathered momentum under Kumble quite beautifully.

For Flintoff it was even worse. He played just three matches for the team and then flew back home to undergo the surgeon’s knife. In view of the hype they created prior to the beginning of the tournament, these two Englishmen deserve the tag of worst performers of the tournament.

Jacob Oram:

When he did not take part in Kiwi home-series against India, everybody thought he was saving his energy for lucrative IPL. But his performance did not show that. The cricketer renowned for his hard hitting style failed to add value to his team and ended as one of the biggest flops of the season, after the English cricketer duo.

Sourav Ganguly:

When you are preparing a list of worst performers of IPL Season 2, you can not anyway keep him out of the list, even though whole of Kolkata seems to pounce on you. Sourav Ganguly came to South Africa to prove a point or two, but at the end of the tournament with total 189 runs and a Sr. of 91.30, Sourav made a fool of himself and easily slips into the top ten worst performers of the season.

Chris Gayle:

Much was expected from this West Indies skipper, but with his short stint and a most casual approach to the game, he proved a total failure for the Shah Rukh owned team.

Graeme Smith:

Smith failed to take advantage of the home conditions. The opener, who was instrumental for the success of team Jaipur last year, proved too ordinary to give his team the right kind of boost. With a humble cricket score of M-12, Runs-212, Hs-77, Avg-19.27, Sr.-98.14, Smith was easily one of the biggest failures of the season.

S Sreesanth:

In the end of the tournament, his cricket score is: M-7, Wkts-6, Bb-2-20, Avg-32.00, Er.-8.34. It seems, he is not as good at his cricket skills, as he is good at dancing, and dramatics and hogging the limelight by flirting with film actresses. He is definitely one of the most overrated players yielding nothing but disappointments and controversies for his team.

Ajantha Mendis:

While the spinners generally shone throughout the tournament, the high profile Lankan spinner had to sit on the bench most of the time. With the thrashing he received from the batsmen of Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, and a modest cricket score of M-4, Wkts-3, Bb-2-19, Avg-39.00, Er.-7.31, Ajantha Mendis is one of he surprise flops of the season.

It is typical of a indian fan mentality to call a sportsma a 'fool' just because
he did not perform in some games...
A sportsman's peformance is subject to many
factors - biorhythm as well as matters of emotion. But unlike this 'digger' it
takes understanding of sports. It would have been enought to say that Sourav did
not perform well, yes that is true, but calling him a fool, nah! never!!

u some good language man its difficult to be ganguly as his sucess is always
forgotten and only his failures are taken in to account.

I agree with Abhijit...
if u r pin pointing Dada,
then wht abt Sachin and
MSD.
Sachin palyed only in One game
MSD also got his form at last..

Even KKR
caption Mccullum, got his form after it was sure that KKR won't go 2 semis

Given the circumstances he was subjected to by M/s Sharukh/Buchanan and co....it
is unfair to make such a dig at Dada. And if such a list is to be honestly
prepared then why leave out Rahul & VVS ? What exactly the contribution of Great
Sachin & MSD ? What about their captaincy vis-s-vis Gilly or Kumble ?

Be
honest, just don't put another whip on media's favourite whipping boy.
