Did Shilpa Shetty miss out on an opportunity to enhance her reputation further after the recognition that she got internationally when she became a participant and won the Big Boss realty show in England and also after she became one of the owners of the Rajasthan Royals, that had won IPL in the inaugural season?

But the widely advertised appearance of Shilpa Shetty with American rap singer Akon did not happen, without any explanation about the deviation from the programme by organizers.

Performance stars search for opportunities to perform and display their craft in front of a captive audience, more so if the programme is being telecast around the world. The closing ceremony of the IPL was such a platform and it was supposed to be decorated by a scintillating performance from Katrina Kaif and Shilpa Shetty. While Katrina performed to the Jai Ho song from Slumdog Millionaire, Shilpa was missing from the occasion. The famous rap star Akon took this opportunity with both the hands and went among the audience to perform for them, and there could not have been a better platform to increase the fan following, as Akon did it. Katrina Kaif also exalted her status, and world would indeed have come to know why she was amongst the most Googled film stars around the world, but Shilpa Shetty did not capitalize on this opportunity.

Was it owing to the fact that her team lost so it weighed so much heavily on her heart that she decided to skip the performance? But the moot point is, it is just a game and after the curtains have been drawn on it, the concept of team vanishes and all the participants become one family, in true spirit of sport. Katrina also took the defeat of her team Bangalore Royal Challengers sportingly and performed thereby emerging as a person who believed in the spirit of sports. Shilpa Shetty could have also done the same, may be her performance would have to wait for another edition of the IPL.
