Cricket seems to be catching the maximum eyeballs these days and it has emerged as a spectacle where every advertiser of the world wants to associate with the event. The final match of the Indian Premier League was billed as the match, which attracted maximum eyeballs for an event telecast on the television, surpassing all the previous records. It was watched all over the world apart from India.

Any tournament that is watched through out the country side in India would emerge as the event that would attract maximum eyeballs, after all we have the envious strength of being the second most populated country in the world which worships cricket as the religion. No wonder then that the ICC is trying to make the ICC World Cup the most viewed cricket spectacle and has plans to beam it to more than 200 countries, and it would also include China and Russia. Imagine if China evinces interest in cricket how many eyeballs would it be able to grab. It would indeed be for the first time in the history of cricket, as also in the history of International Cricket Council that a cricketing event would be telecast in more than 200 countries.

The global media rights and broadcast partner of ICC, ESPN Star Sports is also the telecast partner for World T20 Cup. It has a chain of sub-linkages with various partners across the world thereby the outreach of telecast of the cricket matches would indeed be able to literally foot map whole of the world. It would indeed be first for an ICC event that a tournament would be watched in more than 200 countries. It is double of what had happened in 2007. Besides, the air revenue that ICC is expected to rake is 80 percent more than what it did during the last edition of the World T20 Cup.

For Star Cricket it would be windfall, as it would be telecasting all the 27 matches of the ICC World Twenty20, to be held in England from June 5 to 21.

The manner in which ICC is expanding its footprint across the world and creating new fans across the globe time is not far of when cricket would be played by more and more number of countries. After all, when it can be played on Mount Everest, then the day is not far-off when it can be played on Antarctica as well.
