Film stars of India are one of the biggest brand ambassadors for promoting the cause of the cricket. Even during the course of shooting and in outdoor shoots, cricket is the favorite time pas for the stars. Besides, they have used the platform of cricket to work for cause of various charitable efforts as well. The good will that has been generated by the Indian premier League all across the world, more so in India, as also owing to the presence of three film stars as owners of franchisee in the IPL, the film fraternity is also trying to chip in, in a big way for the cause of charity.

It seems that the young generation of the film stars is trying to keep the aura and the aroma of the IPL alive by organizing a cricket match. The occasion chosen was the World No Tobacco Day on which the Cancer Patients Aid Association organised a cricket match between actors and doctors. Suniel Shetty, Ritesh Deshmukh, Sohail Khan, Cyrus Broacha, Vinod Kambli, Javed Jaffrey, Aamir Ali, Aftab Shivdasani, and Vatsal Sheth were in full mood to outdo their opponents.

One thing is for sure, whenever a collective effort is required on the part of the industry to stand in support of humanitarian cause, industry rises in unison without any hang-ups. It has become more so pronounced after the advent of the current crop of young stars who have had an association with one kind of sports or the other when they were young. These kinds of charity matches provide them a platform to have a nostalgic link with their passion from the past.

The film stars, when they play on the field, play the game in the spirit of the game, but after the game it is all bonhomie. On this occasion Govinda was also seen on the ground cheering his team.

Films stars have adorned the celebrity galleries at the all the major tournaments where India plays. It was particularly manifest in its full bloom at the IPL matches where Raveena Tandon also made her appearance in the public after a pretty long time. In the same manner Shilpa Shetty's younger sister, Shamita Shetty used the occasion of the IPL to bath in the reflected glory of the Rajasthan Royals the team owned by her sister. With the advent and increasing popularity of T20 variety of cricket, more glamour would indeed be on display in the World T20 Cup as well.
