Dhoni made a concerted effort to show that the Indian team was united, unified, confident and well prepared to go into the world cup. There were media reports earlier about some tensions between the senior players. In a show of solidarity, the entire team India showed up at a press conference demonstrating an act of unity.
India who play their first game with Bangladesh on Saturday wanted to go into the game confidently settling any media apprehension about the unity of the team. When the Indian team got together, the Indian captain, Dhoni read out a note to the Indian and International fans. The brouhaha originated when people started suspecting why Sehwag had not played a single match in the warm up games to the world cup. Sehwag who sat out for most of IPL is suffering from a injury in his right shoulder. When Dhoni was asked about Sehwags inclusion to the playing XI, he replied that he was not sure when Sehwag would be fit enough to play. Sharad Chikara is a senior editor at Cricket360.
