Sehwag also sat out for the Twenty20 world cup in London in June and the West Indies tour in July.  Rahul Dravid played an ODI in October 2007 but his performance in IPL season 2 in South Africa has compelled the selectors to include him in the squad.
Sachin Tendulkar  is also called back to the squad who was out of the team due to hairline fracture of the thumb.  Amit Mishra will also join the squad  in place of Pragyan Ojha due to his impressive performance in IPL  second season.  Dinesh Kartik has also been retained in the squad.

Harbhajan Singh has welcomed  Tendulkar and  Dravid  inclusion in the tri series squad but shown disappointment due to absence of Zaheer Khan. Chairman of the selectors committee described the squad as best possible and balanced Indian team and further said the team would win champions trophy in South Africa.
