England or no England---BCCI boss Lalit Modi is determinant to go ahead with Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India. Here is the breaking news: ECB is in the final haul for organizing a “rival” Champions League, to be held in Abu Dhabi. Watch out this cricket360 report for more sensational cricket news and rumors about this mega event.
Yes, it is confirmed---India is going to host this year’s Champions League Twenty20 tournament. The venues have also been fixed. Jaipur, New Delhi and Mohali are the places where some of the most powerful twenty-20 teams of international cricket will vie for the champion’s crown from September 29th to October 8th. The champions League tournament is the latest addition to the annual event calendar of international cricket. The credit goes to Board of Control for Cricket in India for coining the idea of this new tournament. Right at the time of launching IPL, the BCCI proposed holding a 20-twenty tournament where two domestic teams from each Test-playing nation will participate. As goes the latest cricket news: England is staying out of the tournament; thanks to the differences between ECB and BCCI on certain administrative issues relating to shareholding pattern, the ban on ICL players, profit-sharing formula and the governing structure. The stand off makes it least likely that any team from England is coming over India. However, the officials from the other participating countries seem to be completely in agreement with BCCI and they are going to hold a joint meeting to work out the details of the event. Pakistan was quick to step in the shoes discarded by England. BCCI was successful in convincing Pakistan to join the tournament. With top two Twenty20 domestic teams from India, Australia and South Africa taking part in it, this upcoming cricket tournament promises good deal of adrenaline rush. Next year, the things are going to be even more exciting with the tournament expanding into a 12-team affair. So in the upcoming years, we will get to see the cricket teams from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and West Indies participating in the matches. So what if we do not get to see the battle between Kent versus Middlesex--- the event is sure to turn out a success with our very own Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings throwing in some real challenge to the top 20-twenty teams from South Africa and Australia!
