Mumbai, November 14 2009: India celebrated the 20 years of test debut of Sachin Tendulkar, the greatest cricketer of 21st century. His achievements are no ordinary, 12,773 runs in 159 Tests at a average of 54.58 with 42 amazing centuries in it confirmed Tendulkar's greatness in the longer version of the game.
He played 436 ODI’s and amassed 17,178 runs were gleaned at a healthy average of 44.50 with 45 centuries in the process. The master blaster started his cricketing career on November 15, 1989 when he walked out against Pakistan in the Karachi. A Waqar Younis bouncer left him with a bleeding nose but Tendulkar denied any treatment and continued batting. The next two decades saw him punishing bowlers all over the world. .Tendulkar’s become batting ability and his off field demeanour, a man who has not had a single controversy in his 20 year old career. Never cursing his opponents, never arguing with the umpire, never let his emotions get ahead of himself. Harsha Bhogle, the Indian cricket commentator said “He hasn’t just survived, he’s left his imprint on every situation. It is a colossal achievement. On his first tour of England he batted against Eddie Hemmings, who had made his first-class debut seven years before Tendulkar was born. He now shares a dressing room with kids who were having their umbilical cord cut when he was scoring his first century.”
