The game of cricket which used to be played amongst eight to ten nations is soon spreading across the globe. The Canada and Bermuda cricket teams are the new entrants they are excited about developing cricket in their regions.
The cricket news on Cricket 360 revolved around the tri nation cricket series held in King City near Toronto from August 18 to 24. Canada is seeking Indian help to promote cricket in the country to make it as popular and rewarding as it has been in India. Cricket is not a new thing to happen in Canada. Through cricket 360 the fans came to know that the first known international cricket match was played between a New York team and Toronto team in 1844 which had players representing their respective nations. Because of the coming in of other sports, Cricket lagged behind in the region. But Canada has now recognised cricket as its national sport besides ice hockey and Lacrosse. India is known to have the one of the most experienced coaches and test cricket players whose expertise Canada seeks to acquire. This was declared by the Canada cricket chief executive officer Atul Ahuja. It would provide the much needed training and guidance to the budding Canada cricket team as it had a shortage of people experienced in this sport. To promote the sport, the first international one day cricket match was played on August 18 2008 between Canada and Bermuda where Canada cricket team displayed a marvellous performance and beat Bermuda. The stadium was jam packed and the mood of the cricket fans was erotic. Canada reached the finals which it lost to the Windies. Rizwan cheema was declared the man of the series. The first international cricket series did well in Canada and the Canada cricket team put up a good show specially in their game again West Indies on august 22 when they lost by just 49 runs. The BCCI is ready to give a helping hand to the Canada cricket authority to promote this game so that it could be played in all seasons and also Canadian cricket fans of this game can see their sport grow. Cricket 360 too expects a good performance from Canada in the upcoming cricket matches.
