Dada’s omission from the rest of India squad for the Irani Trophy did not come as a great surprise to the cricketing fraternity of the country---after all Sourav has always been the soft target of the bunch of jokers. Cricket360 on why this decision of Vengsarkar and brigade is far from justified.
  The Vengsarkar headed five-men Army has decided it is the time to look beyond Ganguly. So far as BCCI selectors are concerned, it seems that accountability does begin and end with Sourav. Then how else can one explain the omission of India’s most successful cricket Captain from the team for Irani Trophy---that is considered to be the stage rehearsal for the forthcoming series against Australia!
Of course the selectors and Coach Gary Kirsten and the Test and Rest of India Captain Anil Kumble have their logic for why Sourav should be axed; Sourav, who has become a liability for the field, has not been in form for quite some time, and concedes the Vengsarkar headed selection committee. So when was Sourav a Jonty Rhodes one wonders! And just look at their hilarious sense of cricket---they could not find a more ridiculous replacement than Mohammad Kaif who did not deliver some meaningful cricket in the recent past!
Truly, the bunch of selectors has a peculiar sense of judging who is in form and who’s not! They have an amazing knack of chronicling all the failures and ignoring all the achievements of a man who is not in their good book! This lot is too feather-headed to remember that Ganguly remained the most consistent performer of the team India squad throughout the 2007. In the last test played at home against South Africa, Sourav became the Man of the Match!
Well, who bothers about these small stats particularly when it comes to the man called Ganguly who relies more on his fighting spirit than on the whims of a body who are known more for their funny ways of thinking! After all they have this tramp card---dada’s poor show in the Test series in Sri Lanka. But then, who did not clumsy it up in Sri Lanka? Starting from Sachin and Dravid to V.V.S Laxman all made up a perfect mess against Mendis and Muralitharan! But again, the team India selectors are unique in overlooking the flaws of the men who are ready to dance in the tune of the people rather famously obsessed with narrow politics.
 It happens only in India---drag the man out of the team just because he failed in one series! Only the last season Ganguly was the highest scorer! But again the man in question is Sourav Ganguly. May be he is paying the price of all the shots he hurled toward the body of officials during his five years tenure as the Captain of Team India. For Sourav it has remained his individual battle of proving himself over and over again and every time he did that with gusto! But at thirty six with over 100 tests, 6888 Test runs and 11,363 ODI runs, this time Ganguly may not be in a mood to teach one or two thing to the Kirstein, Vengsarkar nexus as he did in 2006 to make a come back with a bang!
Series against the Aussies are always emotionally taxing and physically draining---let’s see how well the Team India without dada in the forthcoming home series does?
