At 42 years of age, Hick will be ending his 25-year career because of a long-term elbow injury. His longwinded career finally comes to an end.  He said - "I felt it was right to finish, I had a feeling at the start of the year that it was going to be my last year". As for Hick’s cricketing career, he scored 112 first-class runs with 136 centuries. In fact, he is one of the only 25 players who scored 100 first-class hundreds. Hick’s career began when he was selected to play in the 1983 World Cup against Zimbabwe. But there is one disappointment for this amazing cricketer, his contribution to test cricket with England was not satisfactory. Much to this cricket news, you will know that he played 65 matches for England. He scored a total runs of 3383 including 6 hundreds and an average of 31 in a test career that spanned for nine years. Hick was far more successful in the shorter version of the game i.e. one-day international cricket. His average was a decent 37 in 120 matches. However, the bigger achievement was when England reached the finals of the 1992 World Cup. Not just that, he was the youngest player at 20 to score 2,000 first-class runs in a season. His test debut was in 1991. He had a poor start to his test career and he never bounced back ever since. He was selected and dropped from the team 10 times. At age 34, Hick retired from test cricket.
