England Cricket Team needs a person who can take them out of all problems prevailing over the team and they are looking at Kevin Pietersen as the savior.
England Cricket Team was really going through a bad patch as they were troubling to stop the Proteas from crushing them. It was Michael Vaughan who felt the heat when South Africa defeated them in the Edgbaston test by five wickets, and he decided to step resign as the captain of England Team. England was looking helpless and was searching for some one who can help them overcome the bad patch of their cricket history. Kevin Pietersen was nominated as the captain and after Proteas series win against England since 1965, all were sure about the result of the last test. But to everybody’s astonishment Pietersen made the England Team to come back from the grave and fight till they achieve the goal of defeating the South Africans to take a moral boost up ahead of the five ODIs. The whole credit goes to the captain who believes in working hard and hard until the match and executing it smoothly in the real match. Kevin believes the memory of the hard work he has put up would always make the execution easy. The ODIs were more reflecting the leadership qualities of Pietersen. From the very first match itself, he has shown his zeal to deliver the best. The result was not only England’ win but the captain also pocketed the man of the match award. The second ODI was some thing humiliating to South Africa as they were crushed to 83 by the Pietersen’s giants. Pietersen rounded up the match very easily by ten wickets, one of the greatest victories for the England Cricket Team, ever. Third and fourth ODIs were also the dominating pitch for the English, as they won both matches by 126 runs and seven wickets respectivly. It was clearly the ‘Pietersen effect’ which made the England Team fight back after they have lost the test series to Proteas. Pietersen is a man of ‘Deliver Principle”, as he thinks about delivering the maximum to win. Kevin never likes to be second and his can-do attitude is very much visible from the way he plays world class bowlers. The extrovert batsman has inborn leadership qualities and that is what a team like England needs at this juncture. A captain should be able to deliver the maximum he can to win for his team and at the same time should be able to bring out the full potential of his co-players. Then only a team can taste the victory. That makes Pietersen different from other captains. He never fails to play his part just like he has been playing before, besides, he also encourage his co-players to put the maximum efforts they can, to achieve the goal even in a ‘nothing to do but surrender situation’ too. The best example was the last test match against South Africa. Kevin Pietersen believes in the strength of his bowlers. The positive side of his personality is that he has matured a lot from the temporary captain against New Zealand way back. Surely England has got a real savior captain in Pietersen and he has a lot more victories to conquer in the future including the Ashes Series.
