On September 27, 2008, BCCI made some important official announcements for the New Selection Committee. The ups and down of last committee has made the scrutinization process of this new committee more strict and strong. Being the world's richest cricket body, the responsibilities grow twice of what it should be. But with the outgoing committee the errands were not even half the range.
The session in the evening on September 25, was significant and all the revelations are made at the end hours, to avoid any kind of embarrassment. As a result the foremost scenario of selection in the place of election makes it all clear. Members who are already in the committee are going to avail all the powers in making the new selections. It is more like a family meet rather than a professional formation of such a big organization. Corrupt Declarations There were lots of blunder, controversies, arrogant decisions and hell lot of financial miscalculations. The outgoing President, Sharad Pawar himself could not give a clear declaration of the expenses that has been done in his reign. These are all discussed and criticized both inside and outside the committee. The efficiency levels are of course made little static by the IPL tournaments, but literally there were many confusions and doubts to be led clarified by the outgoing committee. Pawar’s Power Shashank Manohar is going to replace the present BCCI President Sharad Pawar and there is no commotion while handing over all the financial mismanagements and missing loops. Jagmohan Dalmiya is more likely to be back in the CAB and everything seems to remain same. Apart from few changes with the chairmanship of former India opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth , all the players are going to remain with all their powers for this next innings of 2008-11. There is no selection made for the office bearers and that it is going to get structured through lobbies. On the contrary the names of the new set of office bearers are more likely to be the same people. It clearly shows that though the outgoing committee is making an exit they are leaving their politics behind for the same kind of format. Worst Selectors on the Earth As a committee this whole outgoing group was always considered as the worst selectors on earth. They never gave many chances to the youngsters, even though they performed well. Ganguly, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Kaif and Ramesh Powar were always at the leads and their performances were more about their careers than the team. The results were all there in the poor ODI’s records and the early exit in the World Cup. Players like Gambhir never got a chance to play. Messing up with Greg Chappell Greg Chappell who is one of those kinds of coaches who experiments and modifies the weaknesses of all the players as it has been believed but there has been doubts on that belief too. He was pushed into Indian Cricket and imposed on the Team rather than being a part of the whole process. The favourism in bringing him in and then again throwing him out has shown the world that the biggest Hitler in the modern day cricket is BCCI. But BCCI does not remember that in all this the loss has been of Indian Cricket, the players, the fans & the World Cricket as a whole. Mismanagement up the Team Combination This outgoing committee played lots of hide and seek with the team. They persuaded Dhoni more than his capacity and compelled him to be in the field more than he could. Added to this there were regular confusion between the selection of Ganguly and Sachin. Dravid though always got a preference yet even he was dropped out more often. There was no uniformity among the team members and that was all created by this outgoing group. Expectations from the New Committee The new committee is expected to get a better scenario and most importantly to have some stabilization within the players and BCCI as a whole. All kinds of financial stabilities are also expected from this new committee. Fingers are all crossed with the hope that at least with the change in leaders there is going to be some better environment in BCCI for the session of 2008-11.
