Rohit Sharma opened his cricketing career positively proving to be a calm, reliable batsman. He was praised for handling pressure and becoming a match winner. His performance in domestic cricket was good. Rohit Sharma’s performance in the inaugural IPL Twenty20 was better. He was the only person who performed in the IPL Deccan Chargers. Recently, he is completely out of socks and performing very poor in the international cricket.

Rohit Sharma failed miserably in the Asian Championship Trophy in Pakistan. M. S. Dhoni was shifting Sharma’s batting position from match to match but his performance was poor. India lost to Srilanka in the Asia cup final because of the unsteady batting performance of Indian youngsters. Mendis went through the Indian batting order and took a five wicket haul. Rohit Sharma was dismissed in single digit in the final and with it his reliable nature also.

The poor form of Rohit Sharma continued in Srilanka also. He was selected for test matches and he did not deliver. His form in One day internationals was poorer. Rohit batted deep down the order in the sixth and seventh place but still he was caught leg before or caught at the slips in a single digit score. There is no confidence in the batting of Rohit Sharma and is under heavy pressure when he starts batting.

M S Dhoni has been clinging to Rohit Sharma for a long while despite his poor form in batting. Dhoni has been criticised for this as this prevents the opportunity for other youngsters to enter into the Indian cricket team. Youngsters like Shikar Dhawan, who have been very consistent in the middle order, were not picked at the cost of Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma has been in the Indian Cricket Team with poor form for a long while and M S Dhoni must stop selecting Rohit Sharma in the playing eleven and give opportunity to other aspiring cricketers.

Rohit must participate in the domestic cricket and prove that he is fit to be in the Indian squad. Selectors are closely monitoring the performance of Rohit and his poor form and will surely be including more youngsters for the forth coming series. M.S. Dhoni must back the selectors if Rohit is not selected for the forth coming series.
