Dhaka Warriors felt Chennai heat in their debutant ICL Twenty20 Match.

The second match of ICL Season 2 between Dhaka Warriors and Chennai Super Stars at LBS Stadium on 11th Oct 2008 had something special to cheer up. It was the 100th match of the ICL and Dhaka Warriors were padding up for the first time in the ICL. Cricket360 was anxious to see whether Stars would shine or Warriors would conquer. Later in the second half of the match, when the score of Chennai Super Stars crossed 50, it was a record for the fastest 50 partnership in Twenty20 matches, achieved within just 17 balls. Cricket360 congratulates them for this great feat.

Habibul Basher was happy to bat first after winning the toss and his warriors followed his game plan destructing Super Star bowlers up to the fifth over.  Then Chennai started tightening their grip over the Bangalas and they confined Dhaka Warriors into 142/6. The beginning was impressive and they could easily have set a target 175 and above. But the Stars started shining and except a slight resistance in the form of Aftab Ahmed, the whole army of Dhaka Warriors blinked and failed to gun down the enemies.

Shahariar Nafeez and Nazimuddin had a moderate start by adding 22 runs on the score board but the flow of runs accelerated to a higher pace when Aftab Ahmed came in and started smashing the bowlers to every nuke and corner of the LBS Stadium. After his departure, Habibul Basher and Alok Kapali couldn’t find the rhythm and were short lived. Failing to grow up on a good start, Dhaka Warriors were about to crush down to a small total. Thanks to Muhammed Rafique, who made the cricket score of Bangalas a defendable one by last minute sparkling.

By seeing the aggressive start of Chennai Super Star’s innings, Cricket360 was expecting a sweep up by them. Ganapati Vignesh was in good form and he fetched 25 runs of mere 10 balls. His partner, Harvi too was bombarding to pick up 28 of just 13 balls and he smashed the ball thrice to the gallery. But when the score board was ticking on 61, the opening Stars were back to the pavilion as if in a procession. Dhaka Warriors slowly started to cordon off Super Stars, but Russel Arnold had the medicine in stock.  With 42 runs grabbed in style, he ensured that his team would get through.  In 18 over itself, Chennai Super Stars jumped over the barrier of 142 runs and shattered the opponents down by six wickets to register their first win in the ICL Season 2 .
