Hyderabad Heroes steal the most enthralled match of the ICL Season 2 from Dhaka Warriors despite an egregious century knock by Alok Kapali.

The 7th match of ICL Twenty20 was crucial for Dhaka Warriors as they had lost the first encounter against Chennai Super Stars. Alok Kapali’s maiden ICL hundred carved out of spectacular fire works to the crowd couldn’t help them save the match as the last hour burst of Chriss Haris found Heroes, stealing the whole show.

Warrior’s captain won the toss and sent his army for a slaughter of the opponent bowlers. Cricket360 found his openers getting difficult to stick on to his decision as they were unable to survive the very first attack from Razzaque. Before taking back the cap from the umpire he managed to send back both the openers of Dhaka Warriors for six runs. But when Aftab tied hands with Alok Kapali, the entire mood of the match was changed. Aftab taught Stuart Binny some beautiful T20 shots and the way he lobbed him over the third man boundary for a sixer would definitely last long in the memory of the teen bowler. But the honeymoon was over for the duo when Aftab could not escape a stretching Boje of the same bowler after getting 24 runs of 11 balls.

Even though the wickets kept falling, Dhaka Warriors managed to build up the run rate and they get past 50 run mark in 7.1 overs. Captain Bhashar was also struggling on the crease and he was trapped LBW by Boje in the 9th over. From 68 for five in ten overs, the partnership of Ghosh and Kapali pulled them to a much accountable position after contributing 77 runs. Ghosh’s role was only to support and the slaughter was done by the dangerous man Kapali and by the time Cricket360 found his partner relaxing in the pavilion, the score crossed a well 134 in 16 overs. He took only 59 balls to get enthroned with the first ICL century in this season involving 5 sixes and 11 fours. Shahabuddin would have been regretting for dropping him in the middle well before he fell prey to Harris. Kapali managed to erect a challenging total of 168 for 9 at the end for the Warriors.

The very first over itself was a night mare for Maher as his stumps escaped narrowly from an inside edge. But the relief was short lived as he could not clear the 30 yards and landed in the safe hands of Bhashar. Cricket360 found Rayudu, the last match’s charmer for the Hyderabad Heroes, trying to replay the short uncompleted by Maher and eventually he too had the same fate. Third umpire intervention was sought to decide up on a LBW and it went against Justin Kemp. In the 14th over a brave attempt by Sharief near the fence and an accurate throw followed found Binny also departing. When Boje got run out at 31 runs with a total score of 141; Cricket360 recalled the previous victorious stands of Chris Harris for New Zealand. When Rafique came to bowl the 19th over, 22 runs were needed by the Heroes to register their 2nd win in succession. That over also witnessed Harris, escaping from a sure run out by means of a full length dive. M Hussain couldn’t catch hold of Harris in the last ball of the penultimate over and it slipped to the boundary. Bhashar looked at him in disbelief as he was sure that his colleague had dropped not the catch but the match.

The last over then reached to a nail biting equation of 13 runs from 6 balls. The first ball went for a single, providing Harris one more opportunity to show his ability to win matches for his side. The next ball was pierced through the gap to the fence and the following one was a class lift ensuring the maximum. He needed two runs of the last 3 balls and completed it in style with a marvelous shot to the boundary and pocketing a victory of 4 wickets in succession.
